I was approached in 2006 by Hobo Designs
to create a website to as part of the launch of a new
range of children’s dolls.
I
was given some images of prototype dolls and Scott Harris
from Hobo was writing a story. Scott said he envisioned
Jamie’s Kitchen meets the Tellytubbies. The story
contained lots of magic and action so Flash was the only
way to do it. Previously I had tried to avoid gratuitous
amounts of Flash animation on websites, but this time
I needed to really get stuck in and create lots of cartoons,
animations, noises and buttons. The site took some months
to develop and I had to change my usual style of drawing
into something much simpler and brighter that would appeal
to younger children.
Cartoons, videos and other multimedia
content is becoming and growing part of my work as many
more homes now have faster internet connections and on-demand
television becomes more popular.
